Recovery Is Possible!
Shawn Talbott worried that he might never be clean and sober after cycling through countless treatment centers and living on the street in multiple states.
He was planning on hitchhiking from Portland to Salem, but somehow ended up in Eugene and discovered the Mission through an online search.
“God is pretty amazing. I really believe he’s in all the details; when you don’t expect it, you find his helping hand.”
This time, treatment stuck. “Those other programs – I just wasn’t ready. I was running from this huge hole I’d dug the last five years. I needed a longer program. If you’re really ready for it, you need to learn how to be clean and sober.”
Shawn recently learned a new trade in welding and is focusing on his relationship with Jesus. “Without him, I have nothing. I can’t do clean and sober without him,” Shawn said. “I’m very grateful for God’s grace. This program was exactly what I needed, exactly when I needed it.”
