Saturday marks a big step forward for the Eugene Mission near downtown and for homeless women seeking a better life.

A new $1.6 million women’s center is set to open its doors, marking a milestone for the 56-year-old Mission.

One word describes the current women’s shelter at the Eugene Mission: Overcrowded. It was designed to hold just 50 folks.

If any of your fellow Israelites become poor and are unable to support themselves among you, help them as you would a foreigner and stranger, so they can continue to live among you. 36 Do not take interest or any profit from them, but fear your God, so that they may continue to live among you.
